im piecing together an exhaust to for my 04 cavalier and the resonator i would like to buy i can only find in 3 inch inlet and outlet, is an exhaust shop gonna be able to fit those to the 2.25 plumbing of the rest of the exhaust or do i need to just go with another closer fit?

Most of the resonators on the market actually have a smaller core diameter than what is advetised by the inlet and outlet. For this reason you should check before you buy and purchase the next size up. A good shop that knows what they are doing won't have any trouble making it work.

Verify they are welding parts and not just clamping before you take the car in.
