I have a 2.2L ecotec and I'm building the engine right now. If I get used LSJ rods will they work with Wiseco pistons that are meant for 2.2L or do I need to run the LSJ pistons with them too. Thanks
2.2 eco, sure...non eco...why would you?
You cannot run a LSJ rod on the 2.2 crank, they have a different stroke. Get the 2.2L Eagle rods, we carry them at www.TurboTechRacing.com
Also the LSJ rods do not connect to the 2.2L pistons, as they have a different pin height AND the pin diameter is different....
If you want a LSJ setup, you would need to use the complete rotational assembly (crank, rods, pistons)

Build book says LSJ rods will work on the L61 crack with aftermarket pistons. In their guide to upgrade pistons and rods, they use LSJ rods with Diamond pistons.
Am I missing something? When they say "aftermarket piston" are they refering to an aftermarket LSJ piston or just any aftermarket?
But I agree Eagle rods would be a much nicer upgrade (LSJ pistons are rated for less then 300 horsepower).
i have lsj pistons on my cryo-treated l61 rods, and im fine

That information is long outdated. The build book is on its 3rd edition, and that information has been removed since the 2nd edition.
Those were GMR pistons, and the p/n is discontinued. The only pistons available from GMR now are made from H11 tool steel, withstand 1000+hp, and only work with their matched bottom end assembly (the crank and rods are sold separately and their dimensions do not match any other off-the-shelf ecotec dimensions. In other words, if you use the GMR stuff to upgrade, you gotta use it all.. crank rods and pistons).
but long story short since the GMR "adapter" pistons are no longer available, the LSJ rods are no longer an option for L61 modifiers.

That was from my third edition build book?
allow me to clarify. In the first edition, there was a GM part number for a GMR piston set that would adapt right to the LSJ rod, and let you use it on the 2.2 crankshaft.
these are no longer available, and have been discontinued.
can you use the LSJ rods anymore? yea sure why not.. but you gotta get custom pistons with them. The price of using LSJ rods with custom made pistons will probably be the same as using eagle rods and wiseco off-the-shelf pistons.
Alright, Thank you for the clarification, that makes sense.
Where can I find some info on this GMR stuff? I'd like to research that rotating assembly...

^^as an aside, GMparts direct has all of those parts at much cheaper prices... the only thing they don't have is the piston pin set.. CED does have it.
in total, its about $7500. And if you go this far, you might as well have your block sleeved, or buy a GMR sleeved block.. probably another 2k on top of the cost.. so a little under 10k for the bottom end..
but the sky will be the limit. All these parts are rated for over 1000hp
Wow. Not what I expected, but if I had millions, I'd buy it.
