Compression question
Saturday, January 31, 2009 3:30 AM
I'm redoing the motor in my 98 cavalier that has Ld9 in it.. But I'm unsure on what compression ratio would be better. It's going to be turbo charged, valve job ,cams crank work and other things so I'm not sure what would be better Wiesco Forged Pistons 9:1CR .020 Overbore or Wiseco Forged Pistons 10:1CR .020 Overbore?? Or if anyone else had something different in mind. Thanks

ultimately it depends on the boost level you would like to run.

me personally, im going to be running those 10:1's and about 10-12 psi.

Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...

Well just for driving it around town and stuff i plan on running about 5-6 psi. But when at the strip about 13-15psi. I also want the motor to last a long time.. I'm sending my oil pump to jbodyperformance to (neutralize them) as they say. And im sending my crank shaft to them also for there Lightening/Knife-Edge Service. Cause there is no one around me that i trust to do kind of work!! Thanks you

Please do some research on JBP.

I've email JBP person and he said i just have to send him my crank and they will take care of it.. But the more i think about it and read some postings about the 2.3 oil pump swap i may do that.. Do u think its worth getting the crank done with the Knife-Edge??? Will it really improve it??

Talk to people that have had work done by them. Personaly I would not send them my work.

I had one made by a local place, kinda pricy though. I rather suspect that with a decent fan set up an aftermarket radiator wouldnt be required for a high power build.

lol there's no reason to electronically or mechanically limit boost for daily driving, you can control the amount of boost you make by controlling your foot..
