Ecotec external oil cooler?

Has anyone put an external oil cooler on an ecotec engine? I know for those with the spin on filters they can buy an adapter. But the ecotec has no adapter available. Could you just take out two of the block plugs and use them for the feed and return? Would it flow any oil through the cooler like that?

Example of said oil cooler...

you can't undo two plugs because both would be pressurized.

this would be easiest on an LSJ, because there's two holes by the oil filter boss that can be tapped to be fed into an external cooler.

the easiest way would be to plumb this like a turbo.. use a feed line from one of the ports on the block, into the cooler, then feed one side of the cooler into the pan.
