Is it common for it to be hard to install? I have it on but used the paper gasket. D'oh. So I have an exhaust leak... sounds like a beehive buzzing.
Anyways, I had a question about making it easier to install this header. Would I be able to cut the flange off and weld like an inch of stainless on each primary to make it easier to install? Any other tips to install this header?
Just want some ideas since I have new multi-layer Fel-Pro gasket to install to fix it.
Thanks in advance. Rest of the exhaust:

Top Speed Performance 2.5" Catback. Cut the fartcan off and replaced with 3" I/O Flowmaster 50 series.
It must be easier to just install the header than to remove it, cut off the flange, weld in new material, put it back on and still have to modify your downpipe because the header moved.
I haven't put one on but it just seems like you need to bite the bullet on this one and put some time into the removal/install.

Guys this should say enough...
tell me you go tur sizes mixed up and its all the same....please tell me that.
Tsudo headers are almost always going to leak, they are cheap for a reason and the flanges are not straight. They are not bad to install, just take the cam cover off and take your time with the bolts and retorque after 100 miles. The only bad part was that we had to cut one of my studs short because it was hitting the runner, but that's not really a big deal.

Ugh..
The glasspack is something my parents made me put on. I wanted full 2.5"....
And I decided that I am doing a 3" exhaust when I go boosted so I didn't want a $100 Flowmaster I wouldn't use..
Anyways, bit the bullet. I have to take the bolts for the 4-2 flange off and pull the header. Should be fun. Going to check for flatness at work tomorrow on the flange and have it planed if I can.I'm also considering welding the 4-2 section. All I gotta do is undo the upper mount and I can rock the motor forward to get it in...
We'll see. Gotta assess the damage yet. Will this exhaust leak, assuming it's right off the head, cause damage? Like no backpressure so I burn up a valve?
Thanks in advance. Sorry if you think I'm some ricer n00b.
No ridiculous wings or unpainted body kits here.
It can but more than likely won't your car will feel like a dog and could cause misfires.
Also Tsudos are a bitch plain and simple. I basically redisigned the header after I bought my car. The previuos owner had no problems with but I'm extremely anal about my car and notice small things. First I went and got a set of OEM gaskets, had them cut and re weld in a brand new high quality flex pipe(there prone to bad and can cause an exhaust leak), Also had the flange cut off and weld on a thicker one that had the boltholes exactly right(original had been drilled to fit and then they used washers to seal it.
If you think those are bad try doing a DC Sports race header on a RSX Type S where it is a one piece header and you can only go in from the bottom.
Bit the bullet and did it. It did help a little but I also re did the bottom of the downpipe so it maybe be leaking there/be a bad flex pipe....
Sounds like I'm going to use sealant on that bottom one and weld a solid pipe in place of the flex pipe. Not until motor mounts get here. I'm considering switching to a Pacesetter though.
Can anyone give me some direction on how to install my tsudo header.. i removed my stock exhaust no prob now i cant get the exhuast manifold (tsudo) to get in the area where it attaches to the back of the head.. do you put it in from top or bottom.. I bought it new and it didnt come with any instructions on how to install.
Front the top. It has to be in individual pieces. Supposedly you can install it with the downpipe installed if you unbolt the upper motor mount.
You have to grind down a stud as well. Seriously, if you can't see what you need to do you may be in over your head. It takes a long time and is NOT easy.

dident you have an LSJ header 3" DP going to a STOCK CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Grant I never had a 3 inch downpipe... the pacesetter dp is 2.25 maybe 2.5 not 3 and I was going from a aftermarket header to a original cat. This guy in this post is using all aftermarket stuff, so why not purchase all the same size is the point I was making.
thanks for playing please try again!
Now my car is full 2.5" except for the 3" inlet/outlet on the Flowmaster with a 3.5" tail section.
Had to cut off the tapered end on the downpipe and bam, 2.5". Feels like the torque comes on stronger and longer now, but it's still a butt dyno.
I have a leak on the last flange on the downpipe to fix... just need a new gasket and Grade 8 bolts and my impact.
There about the same as the Pacesetter headers...... I layed underneath my car for about 20 minutes trying to fiqure out how the hell I was going to get it in there.... and then all of a sudden...... it just slipped through the gap and onto the studs.... and then I realized that I forgot to put the gasket on first and that I couldn't get the header to clear the studs enough to get the gasket on without pulling it all the way out.... and I had to do it all over again......
It's a bitch installing and doing exhaust work..... but you just set the time aside and do it..... it's never easy.
i didnt have to grind down any studs with mine or take off my valve cover you just gotta work it in. and before i even thought about putting it in i stoned all the flanges level so they wouldnt leak i didnt think it was that hard to put it at all just a little patience as with any car mod
I realize this now.
Gotta pull part of the exhaust and get that gasket tomorrow and some sand paper to clean up the flanges and do this right so I can finally be done with this exhaust crap.
I just purchased one of these for my 05 sunfire. Can't wait to run into problems now...

B.S. they just require more work to install due to being 3 piece... any header will leak with the cheap gaskets that come with them, pacesetters always do... even higher quality exhaust gasket meterial like Mr. Gasket doesn't hold... paper gaskets work for muscle cars exhaust, they don't have as high temps as fourbangers

Different years have different stud lengths I found out. 2002 ecotecs have no problem with the stud

great write-up on your install fast fire
I'm giving my self a whole day to do this, as i'll have to drive to my exhaust guy to hook up a new system.
What kind of Cat did you use? (if your even using one) and is there anything better than magnaflow?
Also, did anyone with these headers NOT get mounts? How is it working for you?
thanks again for all the info!
hey just read your 2.5 exhaust install, answered most of my questions.
Just wondering if you got mounts as well
Yes you need upper/lower mounts or the flexpipe will be toast after only 8000 miles, the flexpipe is right above part of the subframe and even with motormounts rubs on it, which damages part of the braided steel around it, no biggie...without the mounts the damage is much worse and then you;ll need a new flexpipe.

There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.
