Change the intake manifold(this involves messing with the throttlebody and cable), exhaust manifold, and waterneck to the HO ones. You have to match the head to the 2.4 gasket. While its all apart you would be foolish to not change your cams.....i didnt and im kicking myself. you will need to tune at the very least for spark knock so you don blow the motor up. This is a very vague answer. and fair warning put on the flame suit for not wanting to search.

yes, if you use the 2.3 gasket you need to match the block to it and if you use the 2.4 gasket you match the head to it. either way works but i chose to go with the 2.4 gasket since at the time i didnt want to rebuild the bottom end. when i do do my bottom end ill be going with a 2.4 cometic too i think lol.

Well if you're going to use an LD9 head gasket just remember the HO has a 92mm bore compared to the 90mm of the LD9 which means part of the fire ring of the LD9 hg will be in the combustion chamber of the HO head. I had Cometic custom make an LD9 hg wit a 93mm bore so I wouldn't have this issue, and now you can get the LD9 hg with a 93mm bore if you want, that's the only way to go in my opinion.

I used a felpro...the gasket wasnt in the conbustion chamber at all.

As for valve clearance what do you need to do? Valve reief pistons? You said the water journals but wht about oil?

As far as I can remeber the water were the only ones that needed modification. The stock pistons without valve reliefs have clearance for the stock 2.4 cams and secret cams. No one is sure about the HO cams but its speculated they wont clear.

well after measurements and some talk with my machine shop guy....it should work with stock pistons....But I still dont suggest it unless its been bolted on and turned. I dont trust the measurements although we had good evidence to go by.

You dont need to do anything to the block when using the 2.3 gasket.

Its just place the Twin Cam gasket on the O86 head and mark the coolant passages and then modify your head along with the Quad gasket aswell.

Are you talking about the 2.4 gasket or 2.4 gasket when you say quad? Wont the 2.3 have the passages?

This is what I got from searching on how to do the swap

Simply match your LGO/LD2 2.3 head with a LD9 2.4 gasket, then match the 2.3 gasket to a 2.4 one. Now install with the 2.3 gasket!

You match the coolant passages to the gasket. I also used my old 2.4L head for reference when I did it. This is a pic I had made of the modification to my head. ****NOTE***** DO NOT DRILL THE TOP HOLE AS I DID!!!!! This is an oil passage on the 2.4L head whereas it is a water pasage for the 086 head. It took 9 gallons of coolant eventually flowing out of the pcv breather to figure that one out. you need to use the 2.3 gasket. but first, match the 2.3 head with a 2.4 gasket, then match the 2.3 gasket with your newly modded head and install the 2.3 gasket.

From other guy

Reason I believe the above is cause your making the head fit the block....with the positioned passages...etc.
