LN2 roundy rounder leaves v8's behind

Thanks to Ray Soos we have some video evidence of the potential strength of an LN2. The car to watch is the orange #00 Sunfire driven by James Gatto. Car is still front wheel drive and naturally aspirated. Crank speeds reach 8k rpm thanks to help of "home made" solid lifters and custom intake with large plenum and TB from 5.7L v8 engine. Car dominated the 4 cyl class at this track for a few years, then dominated this mixed class last year. This year class rules will not allow front drive chassis' or anything less than 8 cylinders. I guess it just wasn't fair play to let this car run with the big dogs.

Roughly 5 minutes of daytime racing:

Another 7 minutes of RWD cars taking a beating, this time on a wet track:

slow, that motor sounded sweet! That is how the Dash cars sounded when running all out.

Looked like he was running against Late models, Street Stocks and Modifieds and he was dominating them all! Loved how the second video, he went from the 6th place starting position to 2nd in two laps! That first video he ran great on the out side (even hooking on the cushion), then on the second video he was doing it on the outside and on the bottom! That car is set up great and the driver handeled it well too!

LOL

I think video technology is still relatively new for the cameraman.

For some reason it looks better in the original. I think you can see more of the car. Easy enough to send original files if interested.

Shannen, you forgot to mention that you were a huge, huge part of our success( nearly 160 wins in 4 years). We only lost 2 races each of the last 2 years. I was building a house for my daughter, so James was on his own most of this season. I ran the last 6 nights of the season and had 5 wins. My nearly identical car (white #80) is in the classifieds ( 1997 Cavalier stock car), as I turned 60 two days ago and they outlawed our cars because we "ran off the competition", I'm selling out. Thanks again Shannen, Ray

Sorry, James and I ONLY had 131 wins, the other 28 was our 3rd team mate who ran 2 years in the stock divion.

Thanks Madjack, I used your M98 oil pump idea and added a $20 oil pan kickout from Speedway. It fit right under the starter like it was designed for that motor. It increased the oil capacity to 7 QTS, which was needed on a 1/4 mile track as you were always turning. Never had an oiling problem since! Thanks, Ray
