I remember reading on here we can acquire both the intake and exhaust W41 cams from a autoparts....is this true?
Or does someone have used W41 and their appropriate lifters with them?
GMR has got nothing on this
you could do what scott did... bought the compcams blanks from ron on Q4F. he also had them ground to w41 spec.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
how much would all that run to at the end?
GMR has got nothing on this
honestly i dont know. its not bad iirc.

I'd still rather get them used with lifters....I'd hate to pay over 200 on new lifters.

my New GM W41 cams ran around 450 for both.....
and yes... I reused my lifters!

I have an off topic question, does anyone have a sound clip of a car with W41 cams, I'd like to hear what they sound like at idle and revving.
hm
Maybe this weekend SpeedRacer can put one up of my @!#$box 95....

Funny you said that cause after hearing Scott's Quad 4 w/ W41 cams....i was like where is that noise coming from?......sure enough its the cams....sounds like a dam V8!...I loved it...so now I want them cams!
GMR has got nothing on this
the chopieness and "hit" of the power stroke.... i can feel it in my chest... could be the bump in compression the flat tops gave it though.

Can you give me the part numbers for the W41 cams chris?

the brand new 'lightweight' version 2.3 lifters are $160 on rockauto.com
i highly suggest using new lifters with new cams.

whats the weight on those light weight lifters anyways?

so i have another question. if the 2.3L lifter spring combonation is supposed to be so bad ass, everyone who's doing this is hunting for the 2.3L light weight lifters, right?
well has anyone weighed the differences between them all?
whats the weight for:
2.3L lifters
2.3L light weight lifters
2.4L lifters
i got to looking at the information on here and i cant see the reason for me to want to switch to 2.3L springs and lifters. the springs are stiffer and should provide the ability to increase the redline safely, but the extra tension and weight in the 2.3L spring/lifter combination cant be good... thats alot of extra weight and tension in the valve train which i cant really see being beneficial...
is the ability to rev an extra 500-1000 rpm worth all that extra weight?

I wont trust a 2.4 spring to hold up to 7500 RPM with .430 lift.
paul tjepkes weighed both 2.3's and there was a difference but im pretty sure an ld9 one would be the lightest.
as far as i know the only reason for using the 2.3 lifters is because to run the higher lift cams you should be running the 2.3 springs. the ld9 lifters will not physically fit over the 2.3 springs.

i understand that. but many people have said that its fine bringing the 2.4L springs to the 7000 rpm range. im not sure if any one has done it with W41 cams, but i know people have found them safe with the secret cams and such to that rpm. is an extra 500 rpm worth all the extra work?

see thats my thinking with wanting to stay with the 2.4L spring... the lifters are lighter and the springs wont rob as much power. im also not planning on exceeding 7000 rpm, so its not as big of a deal to me.

^ i spin the W41 cams to 7k on stock 2.4 springs.
gmanz24 wrote:^ i spin the W41 cams to 7k on stock 2.4 springs.
good to know.
so all this work of boring for lifter clearance and tracking down light weight lifters and 2.3L springs and all that crap is just to gain an extra 500 RPM? maybe even a 1000 RPM if your brave. really, thats the only benefit i see. i dont know, to me it seems kind of counter productive to put that heavy of a valve train in there...

are you kidding me? the weight of the lifters between the lightest and heaviest is so in-significant it will not matter.
and stiffer valve springs arent just insurance for high rpm.. their also needed to handle the higher lift camshaft profiles.
and gary LOL... just wait. ill betcha your going to float a valve and drop it.

? skillz did it to what 7600 on stock 2.4 springs? and im not worried. if i do, itd give me an excuse to work on the motor and do what i want with it
also when i was running secret cams the motor saw 7k about daily.
ive got a few more heads, a 2.3 086 head id love to swap on as well as id love to pick up some higher comp pistons with valve reliefs. if she floats and doesnt like it there will be a huge makeover, prob shouldnt dd it after but im in school and dont drive anyway.
I take my stock springs there all the time...
