alright kids I got a 02 cavy with an ecotec. The stock motor just took a dive on me. The goal is a performance rebuild. So far, I have thought about boaring the block a lil, using oversize pistons, larger valves, and increased throttle body. what is the best way to more HP outta this block?

How far do you want to go? Why not toss in the cams of your choice, add the LE5 intake mani & tb, and a K&N intake, then do the exhaust system and get it tuned (plus all the other stuff you mentioned)? My only other suggestion is boost. Get some good internals, and boost away. There are tons of turbo cavs on this site, and the GMPP supercharger is pretty popular, too. The options are wide open for the ecotec. The large variety of off-the-shelf goodies means you aren't limited by your fabrication skills.

the ecotec is like a honda civic, the aftermarket world for this engine is endless. lol
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.
The best way to get more hp, is to turbo the engine.

with all the documentation floating around on how to mod the ecotec, people still need to ask these questions?
GM tuner source
the eco aftermarket is adequate, but it has nothing on the honda aftermarket.
Wiseco pistons/Eagle rods/cometic head gasket/clevite 77 bearings/Ferrea valves and springs/comp cams
That would be a very nice setup
