Got hot--warning signs to look for?

93 Cavi I race on dirt tracks. At the practice day, the serpentine belt broke and it got pretty hot--not for very long, but it was hot.

Cleaned it all up, put a new belt on, changed the oil, it seems to be running fine. But anything in particular I should look for or do?

Feel free to point me to a prior post if this has been covered before. Thanks!

Watch the head gasket. When these motors get hot they tend to warp the head and blow the gasket.

Pressure test the cooling system and do a compression check. If they chek okay, run the motor till it warms up and check for signs of a blown HG (water in the oil, steam from the exhaust, etc...).

If this did happen, you'll need to resurface the head, and install new HG and new head bolts.

(Not sure of your experience with motors, so I included the extra info.)
