i just picked up an 05 cavi and so i need to start all over again. i had magnaflow mufflers on my old 2.4 cavi and i loved the tone but i want to switch it up a bit and found weapon r mufflers, does anyone know anything about them and how they sound? i like a nice deep mellow tone
I know that they are mufflers, and Weapon R makes them. HTH

Its a canister or "fart can" muffler so i have a feeling its going to sound just like every other kind of muffler of the same design. but sens its weapon-r its going to cost more then usual but you'll get the same results.
Also sense your switching from an ld9 to an eco the same mufflers might sound different... its hard to explain but a flowmaster muffler from my buddies ecotec cavalier it sounded like a flat 6.. but on a z24 it sounded totally different..
and are you replacing the entire exhaust or just the muffler?
im looking to replace the whole exhaust. im also having a diffacult time deciding what size exhaust i want to go with. i dont race i just want a decent sound and free up some power. did the flowmaster sound pretty good?
i have a flowmaster suepr 40 it sounds mean but thats with a whole 2.5" exhaust from header back with magnaflow cat.
on my 05 is that one and on my 98 jsut have cherry bomb turbo muffler, not much for power but sounds good nice low tone and not that loud at all esp compared to my 05 lol

Well look into a 2.5" HKS N1 muffler.. (im assuming your after a canister style muffler) Just make sure its made by HKS.. its probably going to be on the pricey side being HKS but the sound deadening materials and quality is there.
and for everything else.. look into OEM's pre-bent mandreal bent 2.5" tubing Or you can go with Customtubes.com for another prebent 2.5".. and pick up a 22-26" long glasspack style muffler to use as a resonator. Also get yourself a magnaflow high flow CAT from ebay (best deal i can find on them)
Also sense your replacing the better part of your exhaust you might want to look into getting either an LSJ or L61 ceramic coated header from pacesetters.. thats probably the best priced header from what you get.
and if you dont have a welder and a lift (or a bunch of jack stands) then you can start calling around for local exhaust shops and see about price quotes. You shouldn't be charged more then $200.. because you would be providing your own exhaust pipe if you go with the OEM or Customtubes pre-bent stuff.
These are all just suggestions.. 2.5" exhaust is the happy medium.. some say 2.25" is still too restrictive (bad top end power).. and other say 3" looses exhaust velocity (bat bottom end power).. So 2.5" is the safe and effective route.
Also if you get your exhaust done at a shop make sure they tuck everything up and away from your rear trailing arm and keep everything up under the car. also if you go with a canister style muffler make sure you keep it tucked under as much as possible.
i have never been a big fan of the fart can, i was just looking into something different. i had this magnaflow on my 2.4 vert and loved the sound but im not sure how it will sound on the eco.
^^^^ it will not sound that much different. I am unsure on how much flow an LD9 puts out compared to an L61 but I do know that my Magnaflow system came off an eco car and it sounded louded on his car than on my LN2. IMO, stick with the Magnaflow. I have hardly ever heard a bad comment about the build or sound quality.
Well if your not into the fartcans and you want something that sound good and is different get a hooker Aerochamber muffler with an offset.
