I am about to start building a 2200 for my 2000 S10. I have a block and crank from a 97 Cavalier 2.2. I was wondering if these were the same or if anybody has tried this. Thanks in advance for all answers.
Why not do an Ecotec swap for lots cheaper?
^^^^because its an s10 and the bell housing wont work
my kill list:a geo metro and a mac semi wow did i kill that thing
because eco's arent cool. pushrod power!!!!!!!!!
hahaha, 2wd s10 with a solstice trans? that would be sweep
Doesn't the automatic in the Solstice a 6-speed, or a 5-speed? Either way, we're still looking at need for less gear than used in the S-truck LN2/auto combo (4.10). Or was that FDR only available with the towing package? I wonder...
Go beyond the "bolt-on".

If I was going to go through the trouble of an engine swap in a S-10 I sure as hell wouldnt be putting an Eco in it.
