I'm goin to have a spare motor lying around soon that i can play around with. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried/had any luck trying to twin turbo the 1.8 motor. I know ill have to mess with the ECU, injectors, fuel pump, manifolds and so on and so forth. Any tips beyond that?
TT on a 4cyl is not very effective unless you have a VERY boost happy motor that can turn high RPM's to all hell. Where you can justify an offset setup, one small frame quick spool and a large frame high flow for the top end. I'm not sure but I don't think GM has ever made a motor that fits that criteria, @!#$, even across the big 3. They all like stroke too much. Again, could be wrong since I have very little experience with some older motors, but even the duke....wouldn't do it.

I'm guessing he's working on a first gen with a 1.8L engine... or he doesn't know what's under the hood.

^yes sir...thats what I meant by the DUKE. While it does have a nice short stroke, to get even decent power levels that could utilize a twin offset setup it would require you to run a completely aftermarket block which takes SBC 350 heads and so forth...it's no longer a duke IMO. The stock Duke from what I've seen with standard pistons, rods, ect keeping close to the original block and so forth the upper limit I've seen is about 400hp....not enough to matter, you can still get a BB medium frame single turbo setup that can easily do that.

Lord knows I've had notions of de-stroking a LN2 by using a '82 OHV 1.8L crank... and maybe even turboing it. But I've never thought of TT-ing a 4-cyl. It's just simply unnecessary! I mean, unless you're gonna go compound... like you see on a diesel or the last gen RX-7... there's no point in doing it. And if you go compound... hope you have, like, no static compression to speak of. And maybe discount access to lots of high-octane fuel.
