Rwd Ecotec in Solstice, could you do the sam for a caviler or sunfire??
Tuesday, May 05, 2009 2:02 AM
Im just spit ballin here but I wonder how hard it would be to turn a fwd cavi into a rwd cavi, I mean dont some of the Pontiac Solstice have a 2.4L Ecotec??? The Solstice, being RWD, The 2.4 liter VVT Ecotec is mated to an Aisin 5-speed trans (From what i have been told by a GM machanic, similar to the one in the Chevy Colorado).I mean its posible im sure it wouldnt be a cheep run bc you would probly have to tunnel out the cavalier to get it done. Just thought i would throw this out there i mean im sure others have but I wanted to see what others thought about it.

the typical response is: if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

This question is beat to death.....have people put v8's in old school VW Bugs?.....it's been done once that I'm aware of the cav was yellow and it had a BBC and a tunnel ram with dual quads towering out the hood......it would take lots of time resources, or a big wallet to have a capible person or shop do it. Most people won't due it...otherwise they claim to "show us"....I'm still waiting for that thread in P&M. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see it done but we wont any time soon.

Most of us have already done it, but they handle so poorly we swapped back to FWD. Plus the whole bad gas millage, and the exhaust sounds so crappy because we have to run the header off the side of the engine bay and not the rear.

What you need to do is put a 2JZ-GE in your trunk and keep my car FWD so I can do reverse drifting... thats what all the cool kids are doing now. The RWD conversion is more played out than lambo doors.

It's not the fact that you asked, its the fact that about 15 people have asked in the past two weeks about engine swaps that are way beyond the scope of the DIY'er.

As mentioned the people who really do the swaps don't come on this site and ask about it, they come on and post results...

Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

By the way, learn what punctuation is.

Wow. What happened to this forum? You can't ask @!#$ that is out of the norm without getting a bunch of bull@!#$ thrown at you and your going to tell me people who do swaps on here didn't ask for help, that they just put the @!#$ together and it worked? Wrong again.

you either aren't on here much, or you don't read the threads very often. "rwd cavalier?" has been the title of too many threads lately and everybody is too lazy to search. it's a stupid question. not to mention that he uses no punctuation and spells words like a 1st grader.

I'm here to tell you, yes that is the case, and in fact you are the one who is incorrect.
