2 Step Systems

I just want some more info on a 2 step system for an ecotec.
Does this setup require a wire conversion instead of the idi cover?
What does this setup all take?

Any information about this setup would be great!

you can run a 2 step without external coils.

I'd use an MSD 6212 box and wire it up to the stock coils ala rodimus' write up (Idk if its around anymore or not)

my only suggestion.. make sure there is no catalytic converter in the exhaust or else you're going to blow that thing out in a second. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

I tested my two step for about a half second after welding a cat into my exhaust (to pass emissions). Afterwards I noticed the skwirl sounded a bit funny and there was weird 'stuff' hanging out of my exhaust tip. turns out that 'stuff' was the innards of the cat converter and packing material. I had to grind the tips off to blow the rest of the @!#$ out of the cat, and then welded them back on.

after taking my exhaust apart, I cut the cat off and looked down the center, and it was completely clean inside.. it looked like nothing was ever in there.

2 step ignition cut + cat = no more cat

There isn't a cat as of right now. It is 2.5" to a 30" resonator to a flowmaster 40. Does this setup need a computer link or is it all turn dial on the box

the 6212 is a programmable ignition box from MSD.

once its programmed, it'll stay the same until you program it for something else.

if you want a box with pots and dipswitches, I think the 62112 is the one you want.

check out the MSD ignition boxes on Jegs or Summit... you're interested in the 2 channel DIS boxes.

Jeesh didn't know they sold for that much though. Might have to rethink this one.
