do i need any sort of tunning? i doubt it but please help.

hello i have a 98 sunfire gt and im having issues with it. the best way to explain it is if your at a deadstop and you take off in second or third your car will studder to get going like if its going to die. well mine does that on first big time and if i happen to floor it all of a sudden it will do that at any speed at low rpms (below 4200 rpm). what can this be. ive check fuel lines, clutch, slave cylinder, leaks, throttle and all sensors. i cant seem to find anything and the only code i have is the egr one since i have disconnected it. now i have made some mods on it so let me know if i am lacking a fuel mod on this to run better here is the list:
low compression pistons
eagle rods (carcustoms)
ss valves (carcustoms)
3 angle valve job
port and polish head
obx header
2.3 oil pump conversion
crank pulley (carcustoms)
alternator pulley (carcustoms)
ho manifold
spec stage 2 clutch (carcustoms)
2.3 cams

would this require a fuel mod?

nope no noises no knocks no nothing.. the engine is pretty damn quiet at idle and when in gear. theres no problem with shifting or grinding noise when going into a different gear.

yes sir i have and ive made sure the the lil springs are in the right place and stuff.. but what else can i check on the ignition. the lil springs are new too and the coils are about a year old but the car sat for the whole year practically

just double check it and make sure nothing is cracked or burnt up. did only change the coils for the spark plugs and/or the coil pack that screws to the cover? and maybe the spark plugs are bad. and when you put it back on use electrical lube. other than that i'm lost. when my coil pack went bad it started missing REAL BAD and threw a code so i replaced everthing under the cover.

let me check all that stuff out again. and yea i changed everything under the cover and the plugs are new.. what about the lil rubber things around the plugs can that have anything to do with it
Re: do i need any sort of tunning? i doubt it but please help.

yeah that connects the coil pack to the spark plugs.

Not sure if this would happen on a cavy or not, might be a diff between fwd and rwd. But my buddy had the same problem in his 240 and it ended up being the throw out bearing. He had just replaced it and apparently got a bad one.

you would here the grinding of the bearing.

have you fixed it? may be ignition module. the computer part of it at the end of the cover, where it plugs to the wiring harness.

With all those mods you should get tuning anyhow or you are missing out on untapped power, what about injectors...your stock injectors got to be maxxed out with all those mods

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!
There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.

We heard no grinding in the tranny of the 240 at all. I thought the same thing when he figured out what it was but oh well, it fixed his so he's happy.

Your list states low compression pistons? Define.... It does not appear that you are boosted, so why low compression?

and i just placed an oder for the msd coils so i can get rid of the coils that these cars come with. so they should be here next week.
FastFireTwoTwo: well i do have the 36lbs injectors but i dont know if i should put those in yet, should I ?
ImPhat0260/Cavattack2000 : and yes its low compression because its meant to be boosted but i was told to build and put in miles on it before the turbo goes on. so im trying to work out the kinks so when the turbo goes in its ready to go, plus im waiting a the stupid log manifold for the turbo anyways.

Sounds like you need to install that turbo and get it tuned as soon as possible.

Yes you should put in those injectors, but do it when you get tuned or the car will run like crap, although it;s already doing that.

stock should be tuned. and technically... you really should tune after each and everything you do.

I'm tired of wasting my time... now I'm breakin' free.

ok ignition was fixed and it was do to one of those lil springs being broken. dont ask me how but i replaced them and the car runs good. no studdering at all now. new problem tho: after 4500 rpms my car shuts off. can that still be a tuning or fuel injection thing?

thats cool i diagnosed your car from like 500 miles away. now get them injectors, that turbo, and tune.
