exhaust question

would installing a header, high flow muffler, and high flow cat converter provide a significant power increase while leaving on stock piping?or is making all the piping a quarter or half inch bigger really that beneficial?

uhh from what little I know I would say that leaving the pee shooter 1 and 7/8" piping is not worth your time if you are buying highflow products. The piping would negate the advantage of said highlow parts. You will not notice much power gain unless you completely redo the entire exhaust system as to minimize restrictions and even then you wont see HUGE gains. I cannot give you a number on what you can gain, as it depends on many factors but dont think bolt-ons will make you super fast unless you tear into the internals.

no i understand i won't see huge gains from most of the stuff i'm doing to it.i was just curious if the 2.25 piping really made that much of a difference as compared to the stock 1 and 7/8s.not looking to be super fast as it is.lol.just a little more pep with a few bolt on mods.

alright well then in that case, running a 2.25" pipe would be much easier for the install as you will be hard pressed, if you impossible to find highflow parts that are in 1 and 7/8" diameter. 2.25 is much more common a size in the aftermarket so in the end it would save you on the installation. And yes I am sure that it will make a difference as 1 and 7/8 is quite small compared to 2.25 when sitting side by side.

alright man.kinda what i figured i was just curious if anyone had ever tried all the parts aside from just a muffler like a lot of kids do and if results had been rewarding enough that switching out piping might just basically be a waste of time.thanks for the responses man.always appreciate advice.

exhaust period will never be a significant increase in power, but those mods you might see a small gain with an intake to go with it as wel,l if you dont already have one, but of course its best to go up to a 2.25" piping.

Just replace everything at once. Its easier and you will notice a difference.

already have a short ram intake yeah

You want to put less restrictive parts on restrictive 1 and 7/8 piping? What is the goal? For it to be cheaper?

Exhaust wont make the car blazing fast, but it will add alittle pep. As said, dont bother with 1 and 7/8 just put 2.25" on it and be done.

Yup, everything 2.25", inlcuding the cat...keeping a stock cat will also be a bottleneck.

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!
There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.

yeah i knew a high flow cat would be the way to go.i was just curious if anyone had ever put all the high flow parts on an exhaust that you can yet left the stock piping and whether or not it was comparable to the 2.25" piping.i dunno for some reason 3/8" of an inch just did'nt register in my mind of being that big of a difference.just kinda seemed pointless when looking at some of the costs of the catback systems out there.i dunno guess it was a dumb question.lol.thanks for all the advice guys.appreciate it

yes well many of us have gone custom when it comes to piping. You can also order piping. The other issue you would have with stock piping is that nothing would bolt up without having reducers made so that the 2.25" in and outlets of your performance parts would match up with the stock piping. If you got a shop to install it they would think you are quite strange.

lol.thanx man.apparently 2.25" piping really does make all the difference

Its not just the 1 7/8" pipe thats a restriction its the factory crushed bends. If i remember there is 2 or 3 that are real bad, it probably crushes down to 1 1/2" flow through those bends and thats not good.
