62mm throttle body for eco

Was looking at a 62mm throttle body from SMGmotoring, anyone have one? Just wondering if its money well spent or if it just sounds cool, and if I'll have to get it tuned or it will be able to compensate for the larger air volume on its own.....

i've got one. added it when i added the supercharger so i can't really give an opinion on stock vs SMG comparison. i don't think you'll need to get a retune. it may be helpful if you access to hpt and don't mind spendin the money.

So would the gains be even better on a boosted engine? rather then a N/A? Or is it like a 2hp gain for 200$ kinda thing?

WOW, my TB's are not that much. Might wanna wait a week so I can get a couple done for the Eco's. Will be cheaper than $200

Although you will not need a tune persay, it's generally accepted that the stock injectors on the ecotec are maxxed on a stock set up, so any addiional flow @ high rpm will be taxing them even more. You can bolt on the TB and probably feel a gain, but with the stock injectors pushing a 90% duty cycle @ redline, its not an ideal situation. To get the most out of it (read as - to do it right), you'll need at least 30lb/hr injectors and a tune.

Oldskool, My next question is...is smg's website they have eco injectors that offer a 10% flow increase over stock, would those be sufficient or should I look for something different?

Should have the one from Tinkles here Friday, then I can bore it out. Price will be the same as the others, around $135-140

am thinking the 62mm throttle body AND a cobalt ss/sc manifold. if the ones Speedy is referring to aren't sufficient, what injectors are recommended and where do you get them?

Ummm i hope you know that you need the M62 to use the Cobalt SS/SC intake manifold.

I think he is referring to the 2.4 eco manifold.
Im quite curious about the throttle body also.

Instead of a custom tune, would the gm reflash with the sc kit injectors be okay?

10% extra flow doesn't give you any room at all to grow. I cannot speak for the sc intake mani, but with the 2.4 LE5 mani, revving to 7k lets you take advantage of your new powerband, but also increases your IDC even further. I was pushing 90% on the stock injectors on the stock redline...

I got my ford red tops on ebay for 75 shipped. they are 30lbs/hr, whereas stock are 24 lbs/hr.

i'd like to hear more on the tb's. i want one!!! lol

horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.

I have the 62mm TB from SMG..I cant say the differance was huge but makes a nice whistling noise at certain RPMs...And just get the 2.4 intake set up,And use the green top injectors from a cobalt SS Supercharged,You can find these used on cobalt SS forms..They are plug and play and work well..with the bigger injectors you will need a tune...but If you are doing the 2.4 intake get a tue anyways to get some gains out of it..But you can bolt on the TB with no tuning once again you will only pick up small gains..The GM computer is a very crapy factory tune...Just because the car is suppost to be nothing more than a granny car..
