i found a really good deal on a 00 sedan that has a blown 2.4 and I have a 02 sedan with a 2.2 and was wondering if it's possible to swap the 2.2 engine/tranny from the 02 in place of the blown 2.4 with out tons of wire splicing. both cars are autos and the 2.2 donor car is a complete running car but it's hit hard in the side with no title so it's only a parts car. I've been told I can swap the whole sub frame drop out and the 2.2 harness will plug right back into the 2.4 car but it can't be that easy I'm sure. And before anyone asks why swap 2.2 into a 2.4 car, I'm just building it for my little sisters first car when she starts driving so power is of no importance.
IIRC All the engine/tranny mounts are the same. Drop the 2.2 in, and plug the harness in, It's not much harder than swapping another 2.4 into it. BUT, you HAVE to use your 2.2 tranny! The 2.2 will not bolt up to a 2.4 tranny and vice versa...

so it really is that easy? That is what i was told, use the 2.2 tranny and just plug the 2.2 harness into the car where the 2.4 harness exits the firewall. my plan is to drop the sub frame with motor/tranny and just transfer the whole thing over to the new car.
I wouldn't Drop the subframe. Why do that? There are only 4 engine/tranny mounts. It will come out through the top if you persuade it.

2.4s arent that expensive... i dont think its worth it to swap to a lesser engine, sorry.
PFFT secret cams?! pm me if you want a real upgrade.

After thinking about it more i totally agree. Now I'm looking for a used 2.4 to put in it.
Or an Ecotec... since it's 00 already, there's no interior wiring to swap. Just the plug to the firewall, and you're good to go.
I looked into the eco tec but couldn't find one of them around here either so I just ordered a low mileage engine from engine world out of California. These 2.4's are pricey but it should last a long time.
