Crankshaft and camshaft sensor
Wednesday, July 08, 2009 9:01 AM
Hey guys, I got an error code checked out on my 97 Cavy, 2.2L Auto 4dr. It came up as a camshaft and crankshaft sensor error. This probably happened when I rammed into deep snow last winter. I talked to the guy at Parts Source (where I got it check) he said the sensor probably either broke or came disconnected. I need to know the location of these sensors so I can check while I have the car up to change the spark plugs. Thanks.

Hmm I didnt know the 2.2L had cam sensors. The crank sensor should be on the bottom part of the block, as close as it can be to read the crank. Sorry I dont know which side off hand. But you will know once you see it. It will have a wire going to it that clips in. It's probably held on by one 10mm bolt.

Try changing your spark plug wires. I bet a metal boot came off and is freaking everything out.

.
The cam position sensor is in the red circle. The crank position sensor is underneath the ignition module (blue circle), to the right of the knock sensor.
