LSD Insert - Review/results
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 5:30 PM
I have a team green LSD insert in my car and noticed that when doing a burnout (in the burnout box) only the driver side tire spins. I think at the beginning of the year both tires spun but I'm not 100% sure because I have no videos from the beginning of the season. I'm just wondering if this is a normal thing for the insert, as I know its not a full quaife diff and don't really expect the same results I was just wondering if others did the same thing. My 60 fts are much improved from last year, best last year was around a 2.38 and this year I am running in the range of 2.02-2.05 which I feel is decent (just running drag radials). Anyways, I just thought I would see what other people had to say about this topic, I didn't do much of a search to see if there is a review on the insert somewhere on the org, but I just got back from the track and have to unpack my gear from my car and didn't have time to search. Thanks in advance.

Because it is a insert it can still be over powered, and not spin both tires. I always try to float the front end in the burnout box to keep both tires spinning.

I don't know if this will make a difference or not but I keep forgetting to soften up my front struts. Maybe if I set them on 1 (softest) instead of 4 (the hardest) that may help? Have to wait and see...I was out practicing tonight cause I am heading to a track this weekend that is supposed to be the fastest in the area and wanted to get my launch dialed in to make sure I can get my best run this weekend.

unfortunately we don't have any true LSD options for our cars. the best bet is the torsional by Quaiffe, or the OBX knock off, but the design of them also allows overpowering.

I have been looking online for the quaife diff for a cavalier and I see that there is one listed for a 2004-05 2.2L 4cyl: Cavalier/ Cobalt #57.309.155 but can't seem to find one for a 2000 2.4L. I'm not sure if the 04-05 2.2L has a different setup or not but wondering if anyone knows if there is a quaife diff made for my car. I'm gonna keep looking now but I can't seem to find anything so far.

I am pretty sure that it is the same.
