I know this is not really in the right spot but figured it would be seen more in this section and I guess its still performance related. Anyways, my questions is regarding what people are running for pressure in their drag radials? I have set mine around 14psi. I know the lower you go the mph will start to go down. When I got the tires they were used and the guy drove them on the street a lot so they were almost perfectly smooth and I wasn't hooking up great with them in the beginning, getting high 2.1's starting off. Now I am down in the low 2.0's (best of 2.028) and am kinda wondering now that the tires are no longer smooth and seem to be much stickier at the track than before, if I should bring the pressure up to see if it improves my mph. I know its a fine line finding the right psi to get the best 60 fts without hurting the mph and I am fairly new running the drag radials and thought I would get some input from others. I did do a little searching and saw a few posts that people are running 14-15psi. I may up my pressure to 15psi to see if my mph improves and still get a low 2.0 60ft. Any help would be appreciated.
How hot are you getting them? I have never used BFG's, but Nitto's. I have always been told BFG's are much sticker than Nitto's. I have run my Nitto's around 16psi, but they LOVE to get hot in the burnout box. Hotter they are the sticker they are. I do not know if BFG's are the same.

Well I am gonna get the car ready soon and I'll be leaving for the track later today. I think I'll put 16psi in them before I leave and then see how my 60 fts are with that. As long as my 60 fts stay in the 2.0's I'll be happy. I'll probably play with the pressure a little bit when I run a few times. I have never ran this track before but I am pretty excited to see what I will run (its supposed to be significantly faster than the track I usually race on) but hopefully I can get my launch dialed in before the end of the night. Anyways, any input would be appreciated. I'll probably post my times when I get back sunday or if i get to a computer before that. I'm not gonna say what I should run cause I don't want to jink it
. Have to wait and see what happens.
i never went below 15 psi in mine.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
never below 20psi in any dr ive used
you want the pressure low enough to put the full width of the tread down on the track , to low and your riding on the outside edges , to high and your riding on the center
also low pressure can cause the tires to wiggle
Well I just got back from the races this weekend...the car ran pretty good...had the tire pressure around 14psi what I have ran all year and almost got into the 1.9's...best 60 ft this weekend was 2.002, almost got to the 1.9's. Oh well there is always next year. There was a Genisis there with the V8 and he had a 100 shot on it and he couldn't hook up (he was running the BFG's too) pulling 2.1's and asked him what he had for pressure and he said he didn't even know. Checked them and they had 34psi
I told him to drop them to 20psi and try and see if that made a difference, never got back to ask him how that went. Anyways, I think in the 15psi is good for the BFGs (at least for my car). I dropped from high 2.1's with 18psi to 2.0's with 14psi and my mph never really changed. The tires are wearing even and they look nice and sticky now. They should be good for next year when the motor is built. Aiming for 1.9's next year, hopefully it will happen.
I never ran my BFGs below 18psi.. cut pretty consistent 2.0s, a ton of 2.1s and a couple 1.9s
