Hey guy i have a 97 cavalier with a 2.2 ohv and a 5 speed transmission, i was just given the oppertunity to purchase a 2.2 eco engine wiring harness and computer for 120 dollars with all the drive belt accessories and engine mounts etc.... my questing is with the eco mounts will it bolt right into my engine bay and do i need a eco-compatible transmission as well?

You need the tranny for the ecotec. Also because your car is a pre-2000 you need the WHOLE wiring harness from the eco car and you have to rewire the WHOLE car as a 2000+.

and i think you'll have to weld the tranny mount, but i'm not really too into the swap...some1 else(maybe the skwirl) could chime in and give much more info.

Correct. The rear mount needs to be relocated/welded whatever. And I guess the front one can be modified to work.
