Which exhaust would you buy?

So I'm torn between to systems. The Vibrant StreetPower Exhaust and the Thermal R&D CL Exhaust.

Vibrant: http://www.addictsracing.rpmware.com/vibrant/vibrant_streetpower_exhaust_systems/1722e/i-36973.aspx
Thermal: http://www.addictsracing.rpmware.com/thermal_rd/thermal_rd_cl_exhaust_systems/b1201c1201/i-35605.aspx

I couldn't find a sound clip for the Thermal on a Cavalier but checked it out on other cars and it sounds pretty similar to the exhaust I had on my old Avenger which I loved. I did find sound clips of the Vibrant on youtube, they were videos made by The01cav. I LOVE the sound of that one as well.

Otherwise, the major difference is the price. Although if I decide on the Thermal, i'll just wait longer to save up, so the price really isn't an issue.

Anybody have any experience with either systems that they want to share? I just don't know which to choose yet.

you could do a mandrel bent header back for the price of the thermal. INCLUDING a new header.

That one seems to have some custom work done to it as well. If I have a shop custom bend me a catback, how will I know how it will sound? I mean what if I spend all that money just to have a crappy sounding exhaust?

as long as the piping is mandrel bent and it follows the stock path thats not going to matter much your header, cat, resonator, and muffler are the things that matter I have a vibrant catback with a 18 inch vibrant resonator(everything else is stock) and i like it.

Heres the perfect non turbo ecotec exhaust, and I think sooo many people will tell you the same thing. Do this setup and you will not be disapointed. Its

lsj pacesetter header>magnaflow high flow cat>18" or larger resonator>dynomax superturbo

All 2.5" with 2.5" piping. Take that all to a shop and have them make the piping up for ya or get piping from CTI. For the price you spend on a catback you could almost pay for a full header back exhaust that is prolly better sounding even with a header. Only thing people will prolly argue is that n/a should do 2.25", but Id go 2.5" and be done with it.

Another vote for the Vibrant. I love the thing, it is quite loud but I'm sure you plan on putting a resonator on it anyways.

Agreed. Swap that Dynomax muffler for a Magnaflow and you are still golden. 2.25" or 2.5" will all work. It depends on what you want to do for the future.

Check out atomic fabrications setup with V band clamps, wish I purchased that instead of putting my own exhaust together since it will be insainley simple to uninstall if you have to do a fuel pump in the future.

That vibrant system is discontinued, I really doubt they even have it in stock.

We will price match the Thermal system, and we have it in stock, send us a PM if interested.

Something potentially worthy of noting, CTI no longer lists the Cavalier either, not in the catalog or under a full site search.

That sounds potentially sucky.

If you going with off the shelf get a magnaflow catback.

That is a popular choice, but make sure it is the true magnaflow brand, and not the RK Sport magnaflow one (does not sound as good)...

PM us we can get you a nice discount on Magnaflow...

agreed. my setup: pacesetter header > catco high flow cat > 2.25 piping (magnaflow) > dynomax ultraflow ss
still need a resonator but even now, when the exhaust is warmed up it sounds amazing! total cost header-back: $450

if you want one off the shelf, can't go wrong with magnaflow or borla mark.
I LOVED my magnaflow catback with stock everything else, loud though.
The borla is a lot quieter and deep, no popping either.

This is my set up exactly - used the CTI cat-back pipes and picked up the other components as i could. Its a great performer for the dollar and sounds good too

my vids are on youtube under user "rwl041". The launch and flyby vid is most demonstrative of the sound you will get - kinda loud at full throttle but no "tin" or "raspy" sound. Quiet cruising and part throttle
