I am getting ready to put my newly-built motor into the Sunfire. I was told by the shop who built it to use a good Dino oil like Valvoline 10w-30 for example for break-in. I noticed royal purple offers a Break-In period oil that is high in zinc.

Do you think this would be a better choice then just off-shelf 10w-30 oil?
Look in to Brad Penn oil, (formerly Kendall) its got a high zinc content. This is what most racers run and what my machine shop suggested. Just another option.
I plan on using Royal Purple break in oil followed by Valvoline Racing 10w30. Valvoline's Racing line has a higher zinc content than regular grades. I am already using Royal Purple in the tranny

Anything with a high zinc content would work just fine! That is what break in oil is pretty much based on is a higher zinc content.
