Hey guys, I have been thinking and trying to plan out how to put the Saturn Sky 2.2L SIDI Turbo Ecotec into 2002 Sunfire, which has a first gen 2.2 eco in it. Most of it seems pretty straight forward with a fe exceptions. First, will it bolt to my existing Getrag F23 man tans? Second, can i convert the return fuel system currently on the car to a returnless? Three, Do I need to get the Sky ECM or can I get mine reprogrammed? Has anyone else been thinking about this and any informatie input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Please keep the derogatory responses to a minimum. I don't mind constructive criticism but do mind smack talk that alot of posts seem to turn into here.
^not to post "smack talk" but this should b in the boost forum.
Good luck find a 2.2 sky turbo ecotec.
blucavvy,
i don't consider your post as "smack talk" and i do understand where it may be considered for the boost forum but i am refering to the whole engine and not just the turbo from it. any other thoughts on it?

turbo the ecotec you have, you're wasting your time attempting this swap. there's a mountain of problems you'd need to work out. slap rods/pistons in your engine, bolt a turbo on and get your tuning figured out and you'll be fine.
the LNF swap isn't worth the trouble because of the direct injection and VVT.
also, the LNF SIDI is a 2.0, there is no 2.2 SIDI turbo ecotec.
FWIW, the K04 and turbo mani from the LNF will bolt on to the L61 if you're interested. You'll be handicapped to about 320hp and have a diesel like power band, similar to a saab set up...
Do you for some reason have access to a cheap complete LNF? they are still pretty rare finds as far as junk yards and wrecked parts cars
Would we even have space on a jbody engine bay/ subframe to have the mechanical fuel pump thing? Dude that swap will take alot more then just worrying about having to bolt up the trans and whether or not its a return style fuel system. Do you have any clue about direct injection? and what kind of fuel pressure you have to make for the injectors to work? Your aware they have a mechanical fuel pump thats running off the engine right? and that the fuel pressure is like 750 psi at idle, and up to 2,250 psi at wide-open throttle. and lets not even start on controlling the VVT..
not smack talking just stateing a few facts here..
I dont think even megasquirt could run direct injection and VVT mabye they updated to do some cool stuff sense i last looked..
