i got a 96 2.2l sunfire and im lookin to do some ugrades ive already got a ractive exhaust and a cold air intake and im putting a performance header and a chip on soon, is there anthing else i can do besides a turbo or s/c?
well seeing as how you cant do a 'chip' due to it being an OBD-2 vehicle electronic system nor tune with hp tuners because its a 96 and with it being a 2.2... id say leave it alone, reap the gas mileage benefits and drive it til the wheels fall off.
Stand in the corner and SCREAM with me!!!!

I agree... But if you do mod it, do so to increase fuel-efficiency so you'll at least make the at-pump dollars last longer.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
o god... subscribed... thisll be fun
Matthew, I have some advice for you. The members of this forum, have alot more experience with these cars than you do. If they say you cannot "chip" it, then you can't, it's as simple as that. But you go right on ahead and listen to your ricer buddies with their +5000RWHP stereo/wing/sticker "mods" and drop money on an ebay "chip" that will either @!#$ up your engine, or do jack so you wasted the money on it. I've learned from my research, that unless you have many tousands of dollars to dump into it, the 2.2L OHV will never be a performance engine. My stock 97 will go from naught to 60 in about 11 seconds. It will never do any better than that. If I dumped $10,000 on it, I MIGHT perhaps match a stock 2.2L Ecotec. But even a slightly modified Eco will demolish the most highly modified LN2.

I think thats a weeeee bit of an exageration. $10 000 will buy you alot of things...
To the op, chiping an obd2 computer is just not physicaly possible. Its like playing vhs on your laptop, feel free to try.... but why not just use the newer technology (ie: tuning software)?
