Sugestions?
Friday, December 04, 2009 5:19 PM
Heres the situation, my mom has a 96 sunfire vert, with a 2.2, Now over the winter my dad wants to put a 3.1 out of my 93 z24 into it. Now yes i know It will make more power than the 2.2 but is it anything compared to a 3400?
So i want to know Is it worth the trouble.
and would it be harder than a 3400?
Or should he just go with a 3400?

Thanks in advance.
Kyle.

The old 3.1 has nowhere near the power of the 3400. It's not gonna be (IMO) worth it to perform the swap. Too much work for very little payoff.Th 3.1 in prim condition only put down 140 hp @ 4800rpm. The 3400 puts down 175 hp @ 4700 rpm and the 2.2 already in the sunfore puts down roughly 115 hp.

Yeah, I agree with these guys. Either the 3400 or make it easier on yourself and swap in a ld9 or ecotec.

3.1 would not be worth his time. Unless he put a 3400 top end on it.

i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
