Indexing 2200

Does anyone have experience with indexing the spark plugs on the 2200? ie, should the gap be facing the intake or exhaust valve? All I found was stuff about the LD9.

indexing plugs gains little to none on mildly modified or stock engines make sure they are good quality plugs and are gapped right. we run ngk iridiums in the race car and replace them every 2-3 races

Yeah I don't really expect any gains. Just figured if it were basically free I would sleep better @ night having it done. I'm also running ngk's. do you index to the exhaust valve or intake valve?

can't raelly index plugs on the ohv unless you use spacers, even then, you run the risk of pulling the plug out of the optimal area to create a good flamefront.

I hear the copper spacers are the way to go because they are soft and you can tighten them down until you're about right. Still too far out of the head?

Maybe you should take his advise and stop. If you want to sleep better your money would be better spent on a better pillow.

y'see, it's not just the problem with the seat. the head is aluminum. tighten down too much? you strip it. then you pull the head to fix it if you can. i'd look elsewhere.

i dont know what your goals are with the 2200 but betweena few of us that responded here we have done pretty much everything with a ln2. heck i run an n/a carb'd 2.2 hybrid with a distributor making about 200hp

I'm not looking for massive gains. I have a corvette project car for that. I understand that takes a dedicated bank account to make any real gains with these motors, or any motor for that fact. I hear about small stuff like this that doesn't cost much and wonder if there's anything to it. I know that cheap horsepower doesn't really exist anywhere. Just want to make sure I'm doing the small things right to squeeze everything I can out of this engine. Thanks again for the wisdom, always appreciate the quick responses to questions I do have.
