2001 z24 5speed cavalier is not starting up and daily driver of about 425 mi per week...
The only way it will start is if I remove the connection of the fuel pump to the filter and connect back, seems like I'm releasing pressure or something because more than the usual gas leaks out and I know these because I have taken apart many times...
It had an 8 month old autozone pump when it started to no turn on so I changed it because it had warranty and ran well fo 2 months and then it wouldn't start again so I change the fuel pump again since warranty again but this time it only ran for 2 weeks, basically has new fuel pump... and fuel filter new also
So when I make car turn on it only runs for a few miles like about 10-15 n then I park and shut engine and I try to turn it back on it won't anymore... Once it did turn off on me while driving, good it was a block away from my house...
I put a fuel Gage from the fuel pump outlet to fuel filter inlet. When I turn the ignition on it read 53psi and drop to about 35 psi after 20 minutes and when I turn the car on the Gage read 48 throughout the 25min I had the car on and never stalled on me...
I dont know what else to do or if im reading the correct pressures for the fuel pump
Don't keep buying Autozone fuel pumps they're junk. My mechanic as well as a few other local autoshops has had alot of people bringing their cars in with bad fuel pumps which they bought from autozone, for some reason they only last 6-12months and then fail. He had one guy that wanted to save money and bought one from autozone and 6months later the guy had his car towed back and he went and got another one from autozone because it was under warranty and another 6 months went by and the car was back again for a new fuel pump though the last time he decided to spend the extra money and let the mechanic buy it from his source.
thanks for the reply... Yea i being hearing that a lot that autozone pump was not good at all... im going to buy it from gm and get a good online
