i know someone out there has done this, but have any of you made a cold air intake? and if so how well does it do, im thinkin about doin this my sel
Many people have done it,
It is the best way cost-wise.
The gains you will see from an intake are so minimal that it is not worth $200+.
You can make one for probably $40-$70 with a filter.
alright then, any suggestions on material??
Make one that catches the oncoming air as the car moves down the road & you'll definitely be in the game.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
i just did this in my 97 cavalier. all i did was take a cone filter, and hook it up to the normal intake hose. the little box where the car directs air into it from the wheel well, instead, direct it from the front grille, or take that little tray out, and direct air flow to it. if you can, put the filter in front of the rad, but if its easier, hooking up a scoop and letting natural airflow pump the cold air to the intake should work fine, power for a budget
I converted my weapon-r into a cold air intake, it was decent. Then i got a GREAT deal with an AEM, so i brought that one instead, and needless to say the AEM is WAYYYY BETTER!!
and still a waste of money.
i got it for less then my Weapon-r, it was a good investment to me.
