I just bought a BC2 Kit and am in the process of painting it and my 2.2L 98 RS decided to start overheating. so (cars overheating & no working heater) I changed the Thermostat and Tada!!! Nuthin happened (still overheating still no heater)........WTF do i do now? Could it be Vapor Locked? I searched and one of the overheating posts said something about it.

Is the water pump doing it's job? Radiator flush needed? Running lean due to clogged injectors? Maybe the 02 sensor is now too dirty to give a good signal to get the injectors to do what they need to?

Ah and last but not least, is there a plastic bag that has gotten sucked up into the front of the car and is now stuck to the front of the radiator? Been there.

My wife's 2003 Ecotec 2.2 liter Sunfire:
* 2 1/4 inch in and dual 2 inch out muffler Trans Am muffler
* 2 1/4 piping to a very long 2 1/4 inch resonator
* 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter
* an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition
* 8 gauge ground wire kit
* Toyz front strut brace
* Russell stainless steel brake lines all around.

EYEOPNR: It does have coolant and i dont know how to check for air pockets

MIKE: I'll get to work and your suggestions in the morning. The pump might be the problem because all the hoses stay cold from what i checked tonight. No flush done for about a year and i never thought about the 02 sensor or injectors so it looks like a nice little check list to run though. I'll let you know which one it was. Thanks for the suggestions.

p.s. no bag lol that hasn't happened yet (knock on wood)

Check cooling-fan operation. A simple thing like a relay that got hung-up can cause so much trouble.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

If you still can't find the issue try draining the whole thing out and running a slow flowing hose or pour water into the resurve( can't spell sorry)
once you get some fresh water into the system re-drain it and see if just water comes through or if its got colant in it.
If coolant is in it then it might be clogged some where are bad water pump.

If you think the pump is bad then let it run for a few or let it heat up to the point where the pump should start flowing, grab the hoses with some gloves on and if you can pinch them almost close then you need to check the pump, if its good then you should'nt even have a little flex in the line, if its warm but you can pinch the line then you got a clogg some where.
