Well all of this depends on your expectations for your engine?
Is it going to be a NA build or a Boosted build?
What cam are you going to get?
As far as I know, there is no cam made for the 2.2/2200.
You have to get a re-grind like most of the guys on here did, including myself!

Check out importperformanceparts.net they have great engine rebuild packages for both boost and N/A packages for a grand and they get out a ton of power once done right

Phil- well I'm going to boost it but later on in the future, I'm trying to put some performance into the motor. I don't want to fry it. Do all local machine shops have the ability to regrind cams?

Eric- that's where I plan on getting the parts from there. I saw the hp engine kits but they don't come with connecting rods or cams. I thought it wouldn't be much of a deal. did you get the kit? And if you did, what gains did you get?

Yes i got the kit from there and a stage one cam with the eagle connecting rods and valves from mantaparts, and i noticed a big difference in performance in the LN2 i have wheel dynoed at 141hp and 151ft/lbs and stock it was 92hp and 102 ft/lbs

What kind of bolt ons do you have? Do you think a complete exhaust and cold air intake will add a few more horses? or. How about a port and Polish?

If you're doing a legitimate build like you're talking about, the bolt ons will make a much bigger difference than on a stock build. As for the port and polish, it's pretty much mandatory on the LN2, especially with any kind of work done both internally and bolt on. Also with the head, oversized valves seem to be popular. If you get the cam the way you want it, you won't need 1.6 rockers though, so that's a plus. Expect to spend as much money on the head as you do almost everything else combined (flow benched, port matched, etc.) Look into good motor mounts too, they made a difference for me.

I have a custom made cold air intake to run into the fender well since one is not made for the 2.2 and a complete exhaust will make a difference i noticed a difference when i went from stock piping to 2 1/2 inch cat back piping with 2 1/2 inch piping before the cat and porting and polishing is always a plus, it helps things to flow better in lay mans terms and if you want to see my mod list click on my name and check out my green and black cavi

What's your whp ? I have the same cai setup but I bought mine like that. Did you have to remove your washer fluid container?
