Well looking at my gasket it doesnt look like it goes anywhere just gets sealed off is that correct?

Nope, look at the gasket and manifold. Head side of the gasket has a groove that goes up to a small hole going all the way through to the manifold side. Flip the gasket over, the small hole goes into a groove that runs along the top edge from the corner of runner #1 clear over to the top corner of runner #4. Now look at the Manifold. At the top of #2 & 3 runner and the top corner of #1 & 4 there are small notches/grooves cut into the manifold that go into the groove of the gasket. This allows vacuum to be pulled from the crankcase. If your running a turbo it also allows pressure to be forced into the crankcase which is the cause of alot of peoples oil leakage problems...
