I currently have a L61 from a 2007 Cobalt and an F23 from an 2002 Cavalier. If I wanted to use them together what flywheel\clutch\slave cylinder would I need to use?
From what I have read, the flywheels are all the same from the L61 ecotecs. If thats the case that question is solved. I have noticed that the clutches are different from the Cavaliers to the Cobalts. The Cavy having a 1" input shaft on the trans and the Cobalt having 14/15ths or something smaller than 1". Are the throwout bearings/slave cylinder different between them also? Is there a pilot bearing used on the Ecotec? If so, is it a different size between them?
Right now I think I can use the complete clutch\bearing\pressure plate setup from a Cavy since that is what the trans is from, and since the flywheels are the same there shouldn't be an issue.
Can someone shed some light on the topic for me.
Its actually going into a Fiero. So a completely custom setup.
flywheel has to be compatible with that engine. example a 2.2 OHV flywheel will work on a 3400 and is the same dementions as a 3800 but the 2.2 one is 6 bolt and 3800 is 8 bolt so it wont work for it i think the ecos are the same way i think theres some that have a 6 and some that have an 8 bolt crank the demensions should be the same so get the one for that engine
and clutch kits you buy for the trans so you would want an ecotec clutch for the F23.
another example i used a 2200 F23 so i bought an 00-02 2200 F23 clutch
JBO since July 30, 2001
Sorry, should have mentioned that its a 2002 F23 from the L61 Ecotec, not the 2200.
