I have a 94 cavalier 2.2. I believe we have mixed the plug wires up. Could anyone tell me which coil goes to which cylinder. The chart which I am referring to does not seem to be accurate. Thanks in advance to all replies
one coil goes to 1 and 4, the other goes to 2 and 3. try one way, then switch if it doesn't work. doesn't matter which terminal on the coil you use for which wire, just as long as you group 1+4 and 2+3 on the same coil
I've tried that, and the car starts and runs decent. I have so much lift to my cam to the point at which it is hard for me to tell. Which coil is 1-4 and 2-3 on the car?
idk, go with what rich said. i have the 2200, so the coils aren't setup the same
the coils are on the back of the block 4 and 1 are the bottom coil with 4 being the lowest and then 3 and 2 and 2 is the closest one to the top of the engine and 3 is below it

it doesn't matter where 3 and 2 go, just as long as they're both on the right coil pack. same with 1 and 4
nope it doesnt matter 3 and 2 fire at the same time and same with 1 and 4

so, on the 2.2, the coils are next to each other, or are they on top of each other? it doesn't matter, really, i'm just curious
their on top on one another on the back of the block

ah....that sucks for when you have to replace them
Better have a nice hoist handy if you have to change them or a couple jack stands and a jack isnt so bad thats how i had to do mine

wow...mine are just bolted next to the head. all you need is a tool to take out the bolts.

a hoist? really?
easiest way to do it, if you don't have jacks, drivers side reach under the intake runners, undo the three 12mm bolts that hold the ICM on, pull it out as a unit. easy as hell.

wrong its 2 5.5 mm on each coil but that was great to try and if you go next to the intake runners you dont have the arm room to reach down there let alone get a rachet back there

the bolts holding the coils on are that small, yes. but the bolts holding the ICM ON ARE 12 MM. guess whats on the icm... two coils. take off the icm, and the coils come with it. also, unless you're 500 lbs your arms will be small enough. i've done it.

i do not have 500 lbs arms i just like easier ways to get things done and according to alldata it is easier to go from the back of the block underneath since it is easier to see and easier to work with and my 2.2 intake the runners are in the way and the power steering is in the way on one side and the and on the other i cant reach around since the intake runner comes out so far and just going from the back underneath is 10 times easier to get to and see everything
