Wednesday, April 21, 2010 6:02 PM
currently i have a header with 2.25 straight piping all the way back no cat no res to a dual tip ebay muffler and it doesnt sound so great at high rpms. i was thinking about a dynomax super turbo.....but what tip would look good with that. or i could keep my muffler i have now and add a cherrybomb glassspack to muffle the noise a little and make a better sound? any ideas? i need them quiclk i want to order somthing tonight so hopfully it will be here next week and i can make an appointment to put it on thanks in advance!

cat, thrush glasspack (or any perforated core. do NOT get a louvred core if you care at all about your exhaust flow) and a super turbo. unless you have large amounts of turbo on your car, put a cat on it. save my air.

no im not putting a cat on that wasnt the question. i want to know what muffler to put on. is the chambered mufflers going to take away hp because as of now mines a straight through design

That thing is going to continue to sound like @!#$ without a cat and res on it. Get a high flow cat from TTR, an 18" resonator, and a magnaflow muffler. Unless you like your car sounding like a rice burning weedeater that is.

and i wanted to have good flow which is the reason for the cat and res delete in the first place. and isnt the dynomax restrictive since its chambered?

You can have good flow with a cat, resonator and muffler. Removing it doesn't make your car run better, just makes it louder.

Magnaflow 91036 catalytic converter

I wouldn't rec the cherrybomb, they go bad fast and sound like crap. You can get the magnaflow one for a few bucks more and will last longer

I've always like the sound of a SuperTurbo muffler on a 2.4 engine, they sound good, and they're reasonably quiet too with cat.
But without a cat and larger piping, how would it sound? I've already got a Magnaflow Turbo muffler now that I'd planned on reusing on the new catless setup but the thought that the SuperTurbo could be a bit quieter would be a nice treat if it flowed just as well as the Magnaflow. Both are good mufflers and flow more than enough cfm's on a n/a car.

i would look into a magnaflow cat and, vibrant muffler with the same piping. I've heard this setup on a couple of cavy's on youtube and even on little high reving honda's the exhaust doesnt sound raspy at all at high rpm.

its not how fast you go its how fast you get there
