Ok my friend needs power. and he is asking more than my knowledge can supply. i know stage cams springs and port and polish, 2.4 le5 mani but he is racing a prelude. newer and needs more power. what type pistons shaved head type stuff would help. and we have HP tuners for it.

Your going to have to give us a little more info . . . track rules and class information is a good start

racing a prelude means nothing cause he can mod as well so you guys can be forever chasing each other

Whats up people?

Legally according to the rules it has to stay stock. problem is no one does. So we are going for stock looking. Car is supposed to have stock sheet metal to but some are running tin bodies.

ok i am the guy that is building the car i should make a account on here and i will to help with confusion. the car is a 02 coupe with a eco and a 5 speed. i belief the guy with the prelude honda junk has no mods done seeing as though the car has 200+ stock. every week he blows the officials to let him race even though the rules state no performance models are allowed i.e. variable valve timing. i want as much as i can get but with a stock looking package. a set of stage 2 or 3 cams would be good but the stage 3 cams will affect my idle so could i adjust the iac to make the car idle at 1800? i also plan on fully building the motor with a balanced lower end and as light as i can make it. can i keep some of the oil off the crank and keep the same stock pan? also plan on running a stupid light flywheel but i cant seem to find one with weight specs. my main goal is to have a very light car and a good weight to hp ratio so i can have a fighting chance. also what cool combos like smaller rods and biger pistons can be run in a eco. seeing as though a am a small block chevy guy this 4 cyl stuff is kind of new to me. i am just throwing ideas out thats why i am asking you guys. rule are made to be broken and i am not afraid of doing so at all. just want to see a chevrolet win!

can you change to a lsj header and cobalt muffler they are kind of stock. there a re a lot of options like deleting balance shafts to make more internal power.

LSJ header would be a good choice.

no exhaust needed full header can be run i just have to let it "rust" so it can be passed as a factory option. all ready planed on a balance shaft delete.

Same problem as most guys with 2.2 cavys on oval tracks they are very down on power compared say to preludes and ford escort gt's. Since in most rules state you cannot mess around with the engine try to go with making the car handle better and make it lighter. I tryed this approach and it helped a lot since I could carry my momentum and rpm's through the corners with ease, and keep up with cars with 175 + HP.

Do the LE5 intake manifold swap and 32# injectors and tune for it up to 7k that will really open up the 3500-7k rpm range alot.

yeah rules are made to be broken........ shooting for the 175+ range n/a? this car i am building will be a "saturday night special" run it every once in a blue moon kind of thing. get my checkered flag load it up and go home. i have run purestocks and rookie cars and did the same thing. i am the type of guy that will out cheat anyone when cheating has become all the sport has to offer. seems like every car out there from my up close and personal inspection is cheating. what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

How is he going to swap an HO manifold onto an Eco? Lighter carpet? Theres such a thing? Id prefer no carpet for a race car.

Wow carpet in a race car? you don't go to race events. or even watch tv about racing cars.
This car is still in the build stage. he has it stripped and a cage installed.

you may want to look into just port matching the stock intake manifold. the le5 will gain you top end power but the one and only dyno result i've ever seen showed a gain in hp on the top end of the power range, and a loss (almost as much as the gain in hp) in the lower end torque. which really is not a good trade off. just sayin, alot of people seem to think great things about this manifold, but losing almost as much torque as the hp gain doesn't seem that great to me.
