budget/cheap muffler swap advice?

looking to make my exhaust louder than factory but not sound retarded since i have an auto. I have the 4 spd with the 2200 OHV. i put a turbo muffler (dont remember brand) on my old 2.2/3spd and it just made like a farty/poply sound out of the back.

whats your guys recommendations? im not looking to spend much more than the cost of a muffler (cant afford a cat-back/full custom exhaust right now)

Where in Maine do you live? Im swapping my exhaust today and I have some type of aftermarket muffler currently on a stock-ish catback. A friend gave it to me when I was in a rush when I went back to N/A. It's fairly quiet and doesn't sound ricey but It is louder than stock and I will have no use for it after today. If you aren't far from NH you can come pick it up some time and see if it works for you. Ill give it to you for cheap. I'm about 30-45 minutes from the southern Maine border.

I've got the same combo with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. It's not much louder than stock but I like it and I actually bought another to use when I upgrade to full 2.25"

When I take it off tonight Ill see if I can find out what it is and I can get a pic of it. I could meet you a little ways, maybe closer to the maine border or something but I don't want to go that far.. As far as price, maybe 25$ if you come pick it up. I have no use for it. I was just going to bring it to a metal scrap yard or something and make a few bucks off it with the catback it's attached to, lol.

Mufflers are really universal if you are just replacing your old one and leaving the same catback on.

Here's a pic of it though.

If you want the entire catback you are more than welcome to it. It's stock until the rear axle, than the previus owner made their own bend over the rear axle (which is not pretty, however it is funtional. The joint right after the stock exahaust piping was hacked/welded/hacked/welded and will be hacked again, lol and then it will need to be re-welded if reinstalled. It's perfectly functional, but again, it isn't pretty, lol.

If you can get a new muffler that cheap I would just go that route. I thought it might be worth it but after taking it off, it's all pretty beat. I think Im just going to throw it away. lol.

I mean I'd just give it to you for free but I wouldn't even say it's worth the drive even with the muffler being in good mechanical conditon.
