97 Cavalier 2.2 CAI

Hey, does anyone have or know where to get a cold air intake for a 97 Cavalier, 2.2? I can find tons of short ram intakes, but no actual COLD AIR intakes. I know there are some for the 2.4, would that fit the 2.2?

The question I want to ask is has anyone tried to mod the CAI for the 98+ 2200 to work for the 95-97 2.2?

I don't see why you couldn't. The part after the first bend after the throttle body should be exactly the same.

I would just cut the neck down to the TB on the 98-02 ebay pipe, fairly easy.

Yea I would think it could that easy, but want to make sure first. Keep us informed Rich. It would be so much cheaper to get that intake than what we have available now.

The TB is oval shaped right? You may want to try and utilize a piece of the factory hose as the connector between it and the modified intake and use SS clamps on both sides. Unless, of course, you just go out and buy an adaptor.

It's not oval shaped, the supplied couplers will be fine.

It is an oval shaped it's not a perfect circle. Although you can use the supplied coupler like Jesse said.

Considering the 2.2l has a CAI stock..... just remove the resonator/bong from the bottom of the intake pipe.... put a piece of tube on the end of the intake box so it still goes down into the fender, done.

The kit that I think you want can be found here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cool-Cold-Air-Intake-Kit-00-02-Pontiac-Sunfire-2-2L-RED-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem51952e67b1QQitemZ350395197361QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcce ssories

Its a true cold air intake from the bumper area under your headlight and outside of the engine bay.

I got mine shipped to my door for less than 100$ CAN.

Filter that comes with it is cheap though, might consider a K&N.

Kit fits sunfires or cavaliers 2.2l ohv engines

Hope this helps!

Well I do plan on buying something like that and trying to mod it to fit my 97.
