ld9 head work advice

Hi

After a couple of stupid fixes sponsored by my family's mechanic (explained here: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=455637&t=455637) I finally decided to take out my cars head and do some work on it. I plan on Porting and polishing it, doing a secret cam swap, replacing towers, lifters, gaskets etc. (rectifying as they call it here). I also plan on shaving the head and replacing the head gasket. I nead orientation on:

1.- How much should I shave from my stock head? Ive heard you guys say 10 thousands, 20 thousands, Im new at this 20 thousndas of what? in? mm? cm?
2.- What thickness gasket should I use?
3.-Copper spray? yes? No?

My Car specs and mods:
Convertible Z24 2000 Automatic transmision (4 gears)
Headers
2.5in full exhaust
intake
Nitrous ( switching to a turbo on February)
Shift kit

All help is apreciated

.020 is 20 thousandths. and thats in inches. .020 of an inch.

as far as the head, i would tell them to just square it up. whatever it takes to get it square again is all you need. if its more than .020 you could have problems with the timing chain.

for a gasket, its up to you.. either go with a cometic .030 for more compression (which you said you wanna go turbo so this would be the opposite of what youd want). or a fel pro, which ive heard is .052 and basically stock, or a cometic .074. from what ive read hear, people can use copper spray and be fine so a little overkill never hurts. cometic says no, dont do it though...

depending what you are doing, why not just get a 96-99 head, deck it .010, run stock valves to keep a bit of the lower end (SS over-sized bring your rpm range up a little), port and polish, and instead doing just secret cams, why not just go with secret intake, and the HO exhaust cam, then all you need is the exhaust tower of the quad and 35mm lifters for the exhaust side (or if you like to keep the exhaust tower and the 33mm lifters mod the tower to except the ho exhaust cam, so doesn't destroy cam or tower), I personally plan to use the stock head gasket on my build, as it seems to work just fine.
