So I'm half way through my LD9 build and I've hit a snag. I discovered that the HO intake manifold isn't a direct bolt on and I'm having a hard time getting an adapter. But I also keep reading that it will only hurt horsepower on NA motors. Which is bad since that's what I'm doing. My question is this: is it worth the effort to make the HO manifold work or should I just use the stock manifold? I've considered searching for a used venom manifold but I've never been able to find any good reviews on to know if it's really worth it. Any help would be awesome.
leave the stock 2.4 manifold on it
JBO since July 30, 2001
What kind of a build are you doing? If its a very mild build then leave the stock one on. If you are doing substantial work to the top end then use a HO intake.
you can leave stock or go with the LO manifold, which is better for N/A builds, seems like HO mani works nice on turboed cars, I will keep my LO mani instead the HO

HO is good for engines with larger cams that need to breath up top. I have had success with the old tubular style manifold as long as you dont want to rev above 6000rpm.
Question. I have a 2.4 that I race on a 7/16 mile asphalt track. I turn about 6500 rpm. This coming year going with the HO cams and a header. Would the HO intake manifold and TB be a good upgrade or stay with the stock manifold.
Thanks
Gerry
In your case they would be a good upgrade since you will be flowing more air in the upper rpms.

Its bored.020 over, P&P, milled, either HO or W41 cams, Bigger throttle body, h/e/i, AFPR, etc. But staying NA.
It is proven to drop HP with the HO mani, and you gain with LO mani, Im not sure with cams if much of a difference, but LO is the way I go, between the 2 Quad mani's and the stock LO, has yielded me best results, if that helps you any, I go for performance, as you see by the quarter sticky....my moto form over fuction

I went with the LO and an running secret cams. I can definately "feel" a difference over the stock stuff. That is also on a fresh rebuild of a 99 with flat top pistons.

For all future readers my "success" was failure with the old style manifold. It gives badass low end torque which makes the car seem really peppy but track times have said otherwise.
