Tsudo header gaskets?
Thursday, November 11, 2010 4:53 PM
I just picked up a used tsudo header... but the 4-2 middle gasket is shot. Is this something I can get at a parts store or is it special order?

This is the one im looking for.

Oh and I want to use new hardware to bolt it together.... Is stainless a better option then say plated steel??

i found two indiviual gaskets from advanced gasket bin. slight triming and was set., then i used brand new stainless bolts with nuts that have the nylon lock in them with locktight. used ones come lose fast.

Go check those nuts you put on there. dollars to pesos says that the nylon has melted out and then burnt off and theres nothing left of it.

well Ive gone two years now with them and yes it did melt i knew that it did it on day one. but thing is when it melted and hardened the first time the melted mess clogged the threads and is still there. this doesnt allow the bolts to wiggle loose on top of the locktight. But hey not every ones choice but like i said two year and still going strong on them.so seems to be working well for me.but yea lock washer will do well to. also i flipped two of the four bolts. other words one bolt faces down, the next up, the next down, and the last up. does its make a diff idk, idont care lol

Actually a loc washer may or may not work depending on your EGT's it may get hot enough to lose its heat treatment, not too likely with n/a though. Best would be the pre-deformed kind, you can tell that they are them because they have a little indent on 2 opposing wrench faces, these are slightly crushed and they go on hard and dont come off easy and they're only good for one use.

I bought a sheet of make your own gasket from Jegs and cut it to shape. Perfect fit and perfect seal. I bought stainless hardware from Home Depot.

Thanks..I ended up getting some gaskets from a local shop that should work with a little trimming and then took the header in to get the flanges ground true. Shouldnt be any issues now.
