2.2 CAI

Don't hate, I searched already! But I cannot seem to find any cheap ones on ebay...and other places sell them? I'm talking about true CAIs not short ram. I bought one for my old z24 off ebay for about 30 dollars, thats around what I'm looking for, all i can find is $100+, I've already got a filter, mine is "ghetto rigged" and i wanna step it up and get a nicer one.

There was a study about it, with actual temperature number involved. I'll sum it up, basically Short Ram is actually colder when idling and the engine bay heats up when driving which kills the performance and point of getting one, Bumper air on idle is colder then short rams idle, and gets even colder when moving...colder air = better performance.

That's nice. What car was the "study" done on?

There is a thread somewhere on this forum that proves that CAIs provide no gain over short rams on our cars.

its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa

lol. ok bud. have fun with that. i'm not even going to begin to try and describe all the diff variable's involved with air induction to you. u wanna spend more cuz u heard cai is better. so go for it.

lol
you know the air moves around in the engine when the car is in motion right?

it's in the sticky that event wrote in this very forum at the top of the page which no newbie even knows exists. they should have to read that @!#$ before posting.

If you must get one, get it for a '98+ car. A blind retarded monkey with an odd number of fingers could make it work.

i have my custom cai setup with the filter in the bumper and i seem to get better top end pull...as where if i have the filter in the engine bay my car bogs down alot after 4000 rpm.....but i get alot better take off with the short ram....but after 3000 rpm the car seem too be slow as f***?i dont know if its just me or maybe i gain a 1-2 whopping wheel horse power with the cai vs the sri.....?

I feel the same thing, my intake is ghetto rigged so I'd like to make it more "eye appealing" lol ALSO the 98+ 2200 intake does Not work, it's not a simple cut to make it fit, i read somewhere on this forum that it's an inch over, not just an extra curve

passes through the hot radiator warming it up, and the excessive heat from the header/exhaust mani.....the engine bay is like an oven...bumper air only gets colder when moving, i see no flaw in that....yes the tubes to the intake will warm up the air from the bumper, but at WOT the air is moving too fast for it to even make a difference

Re: 2.2 CAI

as u are moving the hot air is "pushed"out of the engine bay and fresh ambient air is forced in threw the headlights...around that area...but when u stop at a stop sign or light all that hot engine air builds up and upon takeoff u just suck up all that hot air....pretty much what *95LsCoupe* " the engine bay is like an oven...bumper air only gets colder when moving, i see no flaw in that....yes the tubes to the intake will warm up the air from the bumper, but at WOT the air is moving too fast for it to even make a difference"....so with the filter in the fenderwell as opposed to the engine bay wouldnt you say that you would be getting mildly abit more power and torque because the filter draws air from outside the bay on takeoff...cooler air = more hp?
Re: 2.2 CAI

colder air = denser air.....in other words its sort of already compressed air if you get what im saying. Also when cold air hits the IAT or AIT (intake air temp sensor), it feeds more gas into the A/F mixture.....short version, bigger bang, more hp......winter air better then summer air

yes very true .....i drilled some holes in my hood and stuck a scoop over it...cuz im poor and cant afford a 500 dollar ram air hood lol and this morning i changed my cai back into a sri and since the scoop now forces alot more air right onto the filter it kinda of gave me a bit better top end pull and it doesnt seem to bog down at all now...but thats just because its cold outside...so sri for winter and cai for summer...seems best bet to me?

are you fuc king kidding me? did you take lessons from david diaz and justin whatever his name was? what the hell is wrong with you guys? y would u drill straight into your hood and stick a fake non functional scoop on there? ur butt dyno btw, is lying. just because u want what you did to give u more power doesn't mean it actually did.

unfuc kingbelievable. this ish is epic.
