aftermarket exhaust
Saturday, December 11, 2010 7:44 PM
I am wanting to get a new exhaust for my car. I have a 2003 2.2 automatic Cav LS. I am pretty much new to tuning cars, but i want the sound to be deep and low. Until I step on the gas, then i want it to get loud! budget is a issue. Thanks i advance.

If you want to do it on a budget, buy an aluminized mild steel or 409 stainless mandrel bend kit off eBay along with you muffler and resonator of choice. If you can't weld it yourself, get everything cut how you need it, and take it to a muffler shop. You should be able to do everything for under 250 including labor.

^^ Thats what I did basically. I got my exhaust from this site, it was new in box, off ebay. I also got my muffler used. Works great for me.
Keep an eye on your local forum and the classifieds and be patient.

my friend threw a 3A Racing muffler on his 2.2, everything else was stock...sounded great! nice deep idle and decenty loud when on the gas. buy them at advanced auto, pepboys, autozone, around 40-50 dollars

I had a one peice 2.5" pipe custom made, $100 for a new Vibrant muffler, $75 magnaflow cat on CL
Shop supplied pipe, and installed it all for me for $125
Grand total for my exhaust - $300 CAN
cheap and sounds good and only loud when I want it to be

No kidding, I'm looking at spending more than that and I'll be welding it myself. And thats aluminized steel... of course its 3 inch though and real mandrel bends.

lol cherry bomb.... but be prepared for ALOT of vibration and you better have a good sound system cause its going to drown out all the bottom end
... does help that it was off my old chrysler 440, so it was "pre-cooked" lol
