Please use the search function. I'm tryN 2 save u a flaming from sum of the jbo veterans. I myself have been around 4 awhile but am not here 2 flame any1 jus make sure u try & search before you post. 2 practical possibilities for u;

L61 (2.2L DOHC Ecotec 140hp) or LD9 (2.4L DOHC Quad 4 150hp)

Research the swaps. Unless ur motor is going or already gone you may want to simply mod ur current motor

Eco is not a real option. He would be better off just selling his car and buying an eco powered one. Would be cheaper and a lot less work. The 2.4 would be ok, but even a 3xxx v6 would be an easier swap than the eco in his car.

Now, I realize this may be a difficult concept to understand, but we don't charge by the letter here. This is not an instant messaging program, nor a text message. Spelling your words properly and completely helps to avoid confusion, but more importantly, makes sure you don't look like an imbecile.

Is your car automatic or manual?

Using a phone is no excuse for butchering the language. The previous post I made, as well as this one, have both been made from my phone.

Back on topic, an eco swap is a huge undertaking for someone with a pre-2000 car, as not ony do you have to swap every single wire, but chances are you'll be int a good deal of cutting and welding. As I said before, if you own a pre-2000 car and want an eco, 90% of the time it would be cheaper just to buy an 03+ j-body.

I have done the Eco swap in my 95 'vert trust me I know. I used my wrecked 04 as a doner. I swapped the harness, both body & engine which is all he should have 2 do. What cutting r u talkN about? The Transmissions mount?

first you need to learn how to spell and use grammar!

second how about you tell us what your goal is and we can help you get to your final goal. who is going to be doing this swap? you or a shop? what skill level do you have? what kind of boost are you looking to run?

third do some research ! ! !

Whats up people?

a 2.4 in a 98 is much easier then an ECOTEC as stated and to be honest if you have a 98 just put in a 2.4 over an ECO its not worth the extra work.

a 3XXX swap is an option but once again it depends on what you want if you want stock guages your either switching you interior harness ove rlike the ECO or piggy back the PCMs then again its more work.

you in theory if you can move your interior mods over to an 99+ preferably 00+ 99 is the transition year from 98 to the newer GM stuff some 99s are like 98 and some 99s are like 00

a Z22 is nothing its a dealer badging usually installed on a car with a certian option package to help move more sales
my buddys Z22 had a 5spd, CD Player and a power sunroof they called it a Z22

I've been telling him to use the search function from moment one. OP every question that you are asking has been answered several times on this site...The only way that I recommend you attempt an engine swap or even attempt to make any additional power with your car period, is do extensive research on this, as well as other websites/sources. & no offense but as it stands with your appearent knowledge base you are not ready for a turbo at all, let alone high boost.

ok real talk unless your building your own car for a 2.4 swap your looking at around 3 may 3.5k to get and install 10k if you want turbo ready(my advice dont do i have went throw two of these ld9 engine ad i fun in to the same problem timing tensioner locks up and slips my exhaust gear do DONT DO)
the 3.8 sc is a good swap but your lookn at around 5k swap if u kno somone with a weilder. these engines like the 3.4, 3.1 and 2.4 all plow head gaskets. DONT DO"
STAY WITH YOUR 2.2 build that ez to tune ez 2 build perfect for power
