okay so im in my heads class this quarter and im thinking of going 1mm over valves for my LD9, my teacher at Sinclair CC was wondering if i needed bigger valve seats ? if so does anyone know where can i get some?
nope, you just cut them bigger.
that 1mm really isnt THAT much bigger. you can definitely tell a difference but you just take the difference out of the seat.

wow thanks for that info too i was wondering that for a while now and my buddy keeps asking me

now... sometimes shaping of the combustion chamber may be needed for the valves to clear properly... but on an LD9 head with 1mm os's you dont really need to. can if you want though... would help them out as far as flow goes im sure.

Kind of on the same topic I was wondering how much help 1mm really is. I guess it is over 16 valves so it could add up to a significant amount. Anyone have insights into this?

i just installed them in my head, along with bronze guides and i decked the head .010. using a cometic .030 head gasket to.
im hoping to gaina few ponies with the new set-up but am looking forward to seeing how much all these little things help.
I really give Paul alot of props for what he's done for the n/a department. Hey Paul I found a super rare LD2 block I'm going to build a 2.6 stroker. It has the special webbing around the crankshaft port it's really nice shape.
i have them, i think they complemented my build well, but i also have the third largest cams on here...
my head = .430 lift .222 dur cams - 1mm ss valves, HO valve springs, HO Lifters, decked .020, fully ported and polished.
just wanting to add to this...
i saw this done recently and i gotta say this has got to be one of the best mods for an LD9 head. just so long as whoever does ur valve job does the right cutting of the seats and sizes the port shapes properly for the new valves. have them check the valve heights, as well as if they are cut perfectly round. upon inspection of two sets of SIvalves.com stainless valves (one set 1mm and one set stock sized) we found that they werent cut perfectly and needed to be fixed. just a heads up for those wanting to go the extra mile for maximum performance.
