So a buddy of mine got a 2000 sunfire gt off of his sister for free becuase the motor went in the car. Apparently she drove it a bit too much while it was over heating and it just died. At the beginning when he tried to start it up it made a very Loud noise and would maybe run for like a few seconds and that was only if you hammered the gas. Now it tries to turn over but will not start at all. What we were wondering is will this engine be able to be saved without doing a total rebuild? Could she have blown a headgasket or anything else that may be a possibilty. Thanks for any input. 

Just go to the wrecker and buy an engine for 500 bucks and be on your way.
