i own a 01 z24 cavalier i was wondering if there is anyone out there with a 10sec cav that could get me some idea on parts and past experences with things they bought that dident wrk
here is a 10sec car
Thats a eco but there are alot of +500hp LD9s that could probably do it or are close, best bet is to search through the top dyno list and go through peoples profiles or threads they posted.
You will most likely need a big turbo so go through the boost stickys and threads, if you have to ask what parts to make a 10 sec cavy, you have TONs are reading and learning to do.
You will also need a pretty fat wallet...
Good luck

2005 Mazda 3 GS Auto- Wifes car
2006 Cobalt SS/SC - Intake, 2.5" Exhaust, GMPP Brakes, Solid Mounts, Ported S/C - Sold
1991 GMC Sierra - Lifted on 38.5" Swampers, Too much to list off. For Sale
There are very few 500hp+ J-bodies on here. Hahn Racecraft ran 10s, Boostedecos did or was very close, Boosted2point4(Fetter) was close, and AMMfabs shop car hasnt been to the track. All four are 500hp+ cars.
The biggest factor with running 10s is the driver.
Why 10s? Do you owe Dom a car?
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa

if you think you're going to be able to parts-whore a 10 second jbody you're in for a rude awakening.
all the above examples have more custom parts than you can shake a stick at. if you want to build a 10 second car by "just buying sh_t", I suggest you look at another platform.
it CAN be done, but you need to do a lot of work to get there, and a lot of parts you need to upgrade aren't exactly off the shelf. The J-body is not very popular, so other than the typical ricer crap there isn't much in the way of race parts.

I just LOL'd! Ask any racer, winning is winning (or ask Charlie Sheen!)
But seriously, as PJ said, you're looking at a ton of custom building. It's definitle possible, but you will need to go way beyond bolt on. Built motor, beefy boost setup, and so on. Not to mention all the supporting mods to help you handle that power, ie brakes, suspension, etc. It's certainly an attainable goal, but it won't be easy, and definitely a wallet drained.
If you're serious about it, I would read around and see what combos people are using to achieve those numbers so you can put a gameplan together, and go from there. If it was me, I would start with a built motor, spend some time and cash there so you have a solid foundation to run on
