does anyone know what kind of msd coils and cables i can put together so that my car will work, because msd does not makes ignition coils for the 1997 2.4 twin cam at all but im pretty sure i can do something. any part numbers in mind???????
ok, so doing a swap will work exactly?????????? will i get any check engine light????? and will not have any misfire?????
no, lots of people have done that with great results. shouldn't give you a check engine light, and wont cause a misfire for sure......unless you do it wrong.
ok well will try it and see how it works hopefully i wont damage anything, but abother thing that i saw was that the ignition control module of the 2.4 is diff from the 2.2. the diff is that the 2.4 has 3 terminas on the ignition control module and the 2.2 has one and a long one, now my question is those terminals are to activate what?????
you need to activate your reading ... all your question are answered in that thread... not tryna be an ass.. but thats one topic that has been thoroughly gone thru front to back ..
MSD 8224 and MSD 8870, you need 2 of each.
how to wire it for the 2.4
the 2.2 coil swap info was posted somewhere else with the wiring details

wow you just made it 10x easier with that ..
You might hafta cut-to-length a custom set of wires to use with it. Get MSD's universal 8-cyl kit, as it will leave you with an additional set of wires for the future. And be sure to minimize the length of wire you use for best conduction with least resistance, and don't route them too-close to anything really hot like the exhaust manifold or they'll get burned & leak voltage.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
If I'm understanding this right, all I need is 2 8870's and 2 8224's? No 2.2L ICM, just wire the 4 wires from the 8870's to the ICM Connector?
Yeap and a set of wires I used Taylor 409 universal for 4 Cyl. BTW if you want to keep the oem system intact as spare, get an ICM plug to wire the MSD Interfaces and you wonŽt have to cut the oem coil harness. YouŽll also need some cable to extend the wires of the ICM plug to reach the new location of the coils.
I planned on using the old Coil harness (the one from the ICM to the Coils), but wasn't totally sure if that was the right way to do it, that and find somewhere to mount it. Can we use the 2.2L's Cruise control bracket on the right Strut tower on the 2.4? Though I wonder how they'll do mounted on the firewall where the Cruise currently is.
